COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

NRA 1ST Steps Pistol, Rifle, or Shotgun
Designed for the first time shooter/gun owner, teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owing and using a Firearm safely and responsibly. These are individual courses, 3-4 Hours each respectively.

Basic Pistol, Rifle, or Shotgun
These courses introduce Safe handling of a Firearm, shooting from the various positions, cartridge malfunctions, ammunition knowledge, and cleaning and Safely storing the Firearm. These are individual courses, 10, 14, and 10 Hours each respectively.

Personal Protection in the Home
NRA Basic Pistol is a prerequisite. Knowledge, Skill, and Attitude, essential to the Safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and information on the law-abiding citizen's right to self-defense. The student will be introduced to defensive shooting and basic defensive handgun skills, the defensive mindset, how to make the home Safe, establishing a Safe Room, selection of a defensive handgun and ammunition, Safe storage of the defensive handgun, and local law including the use of deadly force in a home situation. This is a 12 Hour Course.

Personal Protection Outside the Home  -  This NRA Course covers the following:  Colorado Concealed Firearm Laws, extensive drawing from concealment and shooting from various positions, moving to and the correct use of cover/concealment, employing the concealed firearm in a Safe manner, multiple aggressors, point and instinctive shooting techniques, retention techniques, and much more.  The Course can be completed in 2 days, or can be split into a Level I Course and at a later date, with additional training, complete a Level II Course.  Instructor Training for this course encompasses 4 days of training.  Prerequisites are required for taking this course. 

Home Firearm Safety
Teaches the basics necessary for the Safe handling and storage of firearms in the home. Includes: rules for safe gun handling, identifying and unloading various firearms, practical exercises, and cleaning of firearms. This is a 5 Hour course.

Range Safety Officer
Role of the RSO and Range SOP's. Range rules, inspections, safety briefings, emergency procedures, and firearm stoppages and malfunctions.
This is a 9 Hour course.

Reloading Courses
This course will cover the safe reloading of pistol and rifle cartridges. Includes: the firing process, an overview and nomenclature of the various cartridges, storing cartridge components, selecting loads, proper techniques of reloading, and hygienic guidelines.
This is an 8 Hour course.

ADVANCED HANDGUN COURSES

Out-of-Position Shooting
Shooting from various unorthodox positions as one may encounter in a street confrontation including but not limited to: Strong and Weak-hand shooting from the Kneeling, Setting, and Prone positions with these positions being altered from the normal. Additionally these positions are taken behind what cover may be available.
This is a 5 Hour Course on the Range. Prerequisite Advanced Handgun or equivalent.

Advanced Concealed Carry
This is a course designed for the individual that is concerned with self-defense on the street, wants to carry safely and with confidence, and with a knowledge of the concealed carry laws and the use of deadly force. This is a challenging and exciting course which includes but not limited to: methods of carry, carry equipment, flash-sight marksmanship, target recognition, decision-making targets, drawing from concealment and accurately placing your shot/s, selection of a handgun and ammunition for self-defense, speed reloads/tactical reloads, gun retention and take-aways, selecting cover, shooting on the move, the human anatomy and self-defense, and safety for yourself and others while handling and firing the defensive handgun.
This is a 20 Hour Course. Prerequisites required.

Low-Light, Night Shooting
This course includes some of the exercises from the above listed courses, but employees the use of a light mated to the individual firearm and/or the use of a handheld flashlight. Single and multiple targets, cover and concealment, flash-sight shooting, and safe handling and firing a handgun under less than ideal lighting conditions. This is a 5 Hour course at the range. Prerequisite Advanced Handgun or equivalent.

BEGINNERS.  Course includes; the Fundamentals, Proactive and Reactive shooting while moving, Reality-Based engagements, 360 degree CQB movement, Danger-Close fighting, After-Action assessment, and the Reality-Based Shooting Process.  This is a 2-day course at the range.  Prerequisites apply, contact BluDean for information concerning these prerequisites.

AK47 Rifle Course

This Course will include the Basic use of the AK47 and progress through Advanced Training including:  Loading/Unloading, 5 – 50 yard shooting (the distances the civilian shooter will most likely encounter), tactical movement, shooting while moving, strong and weak side shooting, and shooting from various positions from cover.
2-Day Class
Gear:  AK47 series rifle with sling, Mag Pouches, Mag dump bag, Pistol with Mags and Mag carriers, Hip, or preferred Thigh holster, Eye & Ear Protection, Elbow and Knee Pads recommended.
Ammo Minimums:   200 Rifle rounds and 100 Pistol rounds

 Advanced Street Tactics

For INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED SHOOTERS:  Course includes moving and shooting exercises as may be encountered in CQ confrontations one may encounter on the street.
Moving off the “X” and shooting with both strong/weak hands from CQ to 30 feet.  Moving to and the use of cover and various shooting positions from cover, tactics involving multiple targets-“Stacking”, long-range shooting out to 100 yards, moving through a crowd, Scan and assess, after-action-assessment, 360 degree scanning.  Tactics, working in 2-man teams in an outdoor environment.  Decision-making targets.
2-Day Class
Gear:  Pistol, 3-Mags minimum, Mag Carriers, Hip, or Thigh type holster preferred, Eye and ear Protection, Elbow/Knee Pads recommended.
200 rounds Ammo minimum.
